WELCOME TO THE RETREAT
When there aren’t enough hours in the day, it’s easy to lose sight of the things you love about social media. For us, that means being creative and sharing our own authentic stories.
We created The Retreat because we believe there is a need for an event where social media influencers can focus on the art of storytelling. Where they can learn in small, hands-on sessions led by industry professionals. And where there is time, and space, to connect with old and new friends.
WHAT IS THE RETREAT?
The Retreat is a small, collaborative event for bloggers and other social media influencers who want to refresh their creative energy, and brush up on their content creation skills.
Over three days, we provide a schedule where experts will guide you through a range of fun activities designed to improve your writing, photography and film-making. And there’s plenty of time to build meaningful connections with your fellow guests, at a beautiful rural venue.
Our first Flea Retreat took place in 2018 in Somerset. In April 2019 we held a retreat in mid-Wales. And this winter, we are heading to beautiful Herefordshire for our first winter Retreat.
In this beautiful setting, we’re inviting just 30 influencers to join us for a weekend of creativity, storytelling and adventure from Nov 29-Dec 1, 2019.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
At The Retreat, we believe that there are three key things you need to learn.
First, learning has to be fun. So we’ve ditched the presentations and slides, and brought in a range of fun activities that will get you out of your comfort zone and creating exciting content. You’ll have the chance to try lots of new things – from bike rides to spa sessions, cookery classes and fashion shoots.
Second, we think you need coaches and presenters who know their stuff. So we’ve assembled a team of professional writers, photographers and film-makers. Whether you’re just starting out, or an experienced blogger looking to develop your skills, this is the perfect place to get support.
Thirdly, you need time and space. Most of our workshops are for groups of 5 to 10 people. This ensures you have plenty of time to get individual support and advice from our experts, and your peers. Not only that, but we have several small group critiques over the weekend, where you can discuss your work in detail in a supportive environment.
WHAT’S ON THE SCHEDULE?
Whether your passion is words, photography or film-making, The Retreat is all about creating content you – and your audience – will love. We aren’t interested in telling you the “right” way to take photographs. It’s about inspiring you to create authentic content that tells the story you want to share with the world.

Work with a professional photographer to set up a photo shoot to capture people using different lighting, props and composition. See how changes to your set-up can change the mood and tone of your images. The perfect place to capture your next headshot!
Join a writing workshop to share your creative challenges with other creators, and get feedback on your writing. An expert writing coach will join each small group to offer support and inspiration.
Take a trail bike ride (downhill) with a professional photographer and local guide. Look for creative ways to capture landscape photography with your own camera, as our guides help you to get the best from your kit.
Relax and clear your mind. It’s hard to be creative when you’re on the treadmill of running social media platforms. The Retreat is designed with loads of fun activities and facilities to help you relax, disconnect from the outside world, and give yourself the space and time to discover what inspires YOU. Go for a swim, take a dip in the hot tub, or join a yoga class. Or open a bottle of red. Whatever works for you.
Head out into the woods for a winter photo walk. It’s the perfect way to get out of your comfort zone and think more creatively about capturing outdoor activities.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
The Retreat is for any influencer who wants to connect with creative colleagues in a friendly, collaborative setting.
It’s the perfect event if you want to inject more personality and authenticity into your content, or brush up on your writing, photography and video skills.
This isn’t the event for you if you want to learn about WordPress, or technical blogging skills. We know there are lots of wonderful events offering workshops in how to set up and grow social media channels. The Retreat is about how to create wonderful content to put on those channels!
This is also an event about connecting people. So as much as we hope you’ll love our workshops and activities, we’re confident you’ll also love the community of influencers you will meet here.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Tickets to The Retreat cost £295 including VAT. You can secure your ticket by paying a £99 deposit.
The remaining balance of £196 can be paid in instalments. Details of instalment dates can be found on our booking page. Your ticket includes:
2 nights’ accommodation at The Barns
Shuttle transport to and from Leominster if needed
All main meals, tea, coffee and soft drinks during your stay
All equipment hire needed e.g. mountain bikes, wetsuits, adventure cameras etc
Access to the on-site hot tub and use of all facilities
